This project was born from a need for silence. On the coast of Benin, where the waves never stop starting over, I walked, listened, looked. I set down my camera the way one lays down an offering.
The series starts from a simple question: how does a place shape our way of being in the world? Living near the coast, I have often observed this discreet but constant influence. The sea does not merely occupy a space. It transforms rhythms, attitudes and ways of inhabiting the world.
The human figures here are not isolated subjects. A gaze towards the horizon, a pose in the wind, a body suspended above the sand all become ways of revealing the silent dialogue between human beings and their environment.
Black and white takes nothing away from the landscape; it shifts the attention. Waves, sand, bodies and clouds become elements of a single language. It is not the sea I photograph: it is time.

The Beninese coast
The series was made between 2022 and 2025 on the coast of Benin, mainly in Cotonou, Ouidah and Grand-Popo. Fishermen, nets, pirogues, mothers and children, bodies in the wind: a silent theatre, inhabited by quiet, anonymous figures, sometimes blurred, sometimes cropped, but always present. Sea, sand, nets and shadows become almost sacred motifs.

Introspective, minimal, contemplative
Vibration Côtière was born from a need to become one with the space, to enter a kind of natural ritual where people and water look at each other in silence. Grain, areas of shadow and flashes of light are the raw materials of emotion. I am not after the obvious or the spectacular, but the depth of almost nothing.

A book and an exhibition
The project takes two forms: a photobook bringing together the twenty works in a fluid narrative, designed for an inward reading, and an exhibition of fifteen large-format art prints, chosen for their visual strength and immersive power. In Présences, the series closes the book without closing it: it leaves a horizon rather than a conclusion.
“There is no image without silence. Just a heartbeat, a breath, a grain suspended between two worlds.”
