Vestiges Sacrés was not born from a wish to document a monument. It was born from a simple, slightly dizzying question: how does matter keep the memory of human presences?
In September 2026, I was hosted at the Saline royale d'Arc-et-Senans, built by Claude-Nicolas Ledoux. It was the first time I had worked on architecture. The walls, the stones, the vanished salt crystals, the cast shadows, the closed thresholds became a silent language for me, hinting at what was lived, worked, hoped for, then forgotten.
The body of work now brings together thirty-five photographs in four movements: the language of shadow and matter, the eye of the theatre, a sequence of presences, the unfinished dream. It is still being written. Here are a few extracts from the residency portfolio.
